Look, forgiveness is an internal process first and foremost. Reconciliation irl can be a part of it but it doesn’t have to, sometimes it doesn’t make sense, isn’t safe, or isn’t possible. Like, you can forgive someone who has passed on, for instance. And you know who really needed the Dad forgiveness storyline? Ted. Ted needed to forgive his deceased father. Not Jamie, who benefited from internally forgiving his Dad so he could be free of his toxic influence but absolutely did NoT need to reconcile with someone who orchestrated his trauma.
